Just a couple of ingredients away and done!

Prep Time: 10 Minutes  Cook Time: 18 Minutes  Yield: 2 Servings

List of Ingredients:
  • -        For marinating the Salmon, a dash salt and pepper, and 2 minced garlic cloves
  • -        2 medium-sized Salmon Steaks, 4cm thick, Skin on
  • -        Juice of 1 large lemon
  • -        2 cloves of garlic, sliced
  • -        3 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
  • -        2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • -        1 tablespoon of prepared mustard
  • -        1 tablespoon of honey
  • -        Dried herbs for garnish

Method of Preparation:
  • -        First, mix the salmon marinade and rub it on the fish. Keep in the fridge for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • -        To make the glaze, mix the following six ingredients in a small bowl until consistent.
  • -        Over low heat, pour the glaze in hot non-stick skillet. Stir until thickened and reduced to two thirds.
  • -         Remove the glaze to a small dish.
  • -        In the same skillet, higher the heat to medium. Drizzle some olive oil in the pan, and place the salmon steaks.
  • -        Add 1 tablespoon of the glaze over each steak, and cook for 4 minutes.
  • -        Turn to the other side, and then add another tablespoon of the glaze. I cook my steaks for a little less time because I like my salmon undercooked, but this is up to your preference.
  • -        Remove and lay on the serving plate.
  • -        Sprinkle any dried herbs of your choice. I toss a handful of dried basil; it gives it a real good kick.
  • -        Add the remaining glaze to a small bowl and sprinkle more on fish when needed. Which is always!
  • -        Serve with any of the sides mentioned above. Steamed rice, wholemeal Spaghetti, green salad or boiled vegetables.

#A_Kitchen_tip

On a hot skillet, salmon steaks (3.5cm thick) take about 4 minutes on each side to be fully cooked and really flaky.  If you prefer them a little undercooked, cook for 3 minutes or a little less on each side. Remember your eyes are your best judge. When the fish is still pink in the middle then it hasn’t been fully cooked through. When it is opaque and you start to see the lines separating the flakes, this is when you know it is done.

I wasted those ingredients. So now you don’t have to!
